So what is this site all about? Well, it serves multiple purposes.

First of all, I should start with a disclaimer. This site is being developed by the chief technical officer for Awake Software, and I am in the process of developing some desktop journaling software. So there is a personal commercial interest in this site, for me to see what the landscape looks like for journaling and blogging software.

However, it is also more than that. Having developed some desktop software before for dream journaling and seeing the growth of the blogosphere on the internet since then, it is even more obvious to me that there is a need for good general information about journaling and blogging software and websites. So that is another purpose of this site - to pull all of this information together in one place so that people can make intelligent decisions about their personal journaling choices.

Although blogging and journaling is a huge area, I try to concentrate in this site on the personal use of journaling or blogging. That is, bloggers can play the role of reporters or pundits for given causes or political arenas or a host of other roles in the blogosphere. I am more interested in how people are using these tools for personal growth in their own life and relationships. That will be the major emphasis of this site.
